On January 14, 2025, the RECONNECT project hosted a full-day workshop in Grenoble, bringing together 15 regional experts from various public institutions and diverse fields, including protected areas and beyond. The goal was to collaboratively explore strategies for reconnecting the Grenoble landscape for biodiversity while integrating a socio-ecological perspective.

The participants, divided into three groups, worked with highly detailed maps and high-resolution models of ecosystem services using an innovative landscape connectivity approach to identify potential actions and strategies for ecological restoration, nature conservation, and sustainable land management. The experts showed great enthusiasm and a strong willingness to propose changes for better connecting the Grenoble territory, sparking engaging debates not only on connectivity but also on the importance of involving local stakeholders and the potential conflicts and trade-offs that might arise from different intervention strategies.

The diverse expertise of the participants was essential in shaping the next steps of the project, which involve developing detailed future scenarios. These scenarios will serve as the foundation for modeling ecosystem services and assessing their impact on landscape connectivity, contributing to more effective biodiversity conservation strategies in the region.
