On 28 February, RECONNECT hosted a fruitful webinar with IUCN – WCPA on the topic ‘Managing protected areas in multifunctional landscapes’. During this webinar, the European Commission provided an update on the protected areas in the EU, while RECONNECT raised the topic on how (inter)connections would play a role in the management of landscapes to benefit both nature and people.

This was followed by an enriching discussion among the various participants on how to move forward with implementation, considering the position of protected areas within the social-ecological of the landscapes in which they are embedded.
